Romans in the Harbour
Fishbourne Roman Palace museum will be open to look round before we gather up for a talk on finds found in the Chichester Harbour area by Rob Symmons, Curator. Then, afterwards, we will leave for a two mile walk along the harbour shoreline, stopping at points of Roman interest, to the Harbour Education Centre at Dell Quay where we will finish with refreshments.

Free minibus ride back to the start.

BDMLR Marine Mammal Rescue Course
Train to help rescue seals, porpoises, dolphins and whales that end up stranding on UK beaches.

Meet at:
South Hayling United Reformed Church,
Small Church Hall, Hollow lane

This course is for people 16 years old and over. You will need a drysuit as after a morning of lectures, you'll be getting wet putting what you've learned into practice, using our life-sized models (and the whale weighs two tonnes!). Once trained, you'll be part of a team that responds to around 500 callouts around the UK every year. for more information, please click on the website link

Horti Main Summer Show
The Horti Main Summer Show is on Saturday 4 September at the Hayling Island Community Centre, Station Road, West Town.

The main themes are Dahlias and Horticulture. There are classes for indoor and outdoor pot plants, cacti, flowers, salads, vegetables, fruit, photography, junior entries, cookery and flower arranging.

Prizes are generally £2.00, £1.50 and £1, with more for some special classes. Entry is 30p or 40p with more for some special classes. Juniors' entry is free.

There will be a tombola stall, a plant and book stall and superb afternoon teas with home made cakes.

It's a great afternoon out for all the family.

Entry Forms have to be in by 4.00pm on Thursday 2 September at the latest.

It costs £1 to get in, and accompanied children get in free. 3 or more entries gain a free entrance for exhibitors. Disabled entry is 1.30pm, and for the general public at 2.00pm.

National Windsurfing Festival
This year's National Windsurfing Festival (NWF) will take place from The Inn on the Beach, on Hayling Island 4-5 Sept 2010, kindly sponsored by Havant Borough Council.

Also the NWF Party on the Saturday night, with the Heathrow Jets and DJ Parfitt on the mix. The action will kick off around 8:00pm - advanced ticket only.

Historic Churches Bike Ride
Historic Churches Bike Ride on Saturday 11th September. Churches will be manned at various times during the day to check in riders. St andrew's will be manned from 10:00am until 6:00pm.

Hayling Island Horse Show
THE annual Hayling Horse Show is being held on Sunday 12 September, at Lower Tye Camp Site, Copse Lane Hayling Island.
There will be a seven rings in all, including to name just a few, a fun ring, children's ring - which proved extremely popular last year - working hunter, mountain and moorland, heavies and hairies classes, plus many others.
Clear round jumping available throughout the day

A weeks camping with a charity event on the Saturday in aid of Brent Lodge Animal and Bird Rescue. Many attractions inc: Birds of Prey , Fun Dog Show and Silly Sports. Party in evening [American supper style]

Anyone is welcome to pop in for a cuppa anytime during the meet and to come to the charity event on the Saturday. you can join in with the fun dog show and Silly Sports, watch displays and see the birds of prey. You may also join the evening American supper party and camp fire gatherings etc.

BeachWatch Beach clean and litter survey with BTCV
Beach litter is not only unsightly, it can be dangerous to marine wildlife. Join us to pick up litter and record the litter found on the beach to help the Marine Conservation Society tackle the causes of marine litter.

Meet by Inn on the beach at 10.30am. End time 12.30pm. Litter pickers, bags and gloves will be provided, as will tea, coffee and biscuits. Please wear sensible footwear and come prepared for the weather, including sunhat/suncream if needed. Children welcome if accompanied by a responsible adult.
