| 2009 Raft Race Langstone |
Last year 17 rafts made it to the start line and the organisers are expecting over 20 this year in this increasingly popular, enjoyable and colourful event for all concerned.
There will be a BBQ, Fancy Dress Crew Competition, and a live band will play throughout the afternoon.
1130 onwards. Judging of fancy dress.
1 pm approximately. Race Start
BBQ + Live Music until 5 pm

| RNLI Open Day |
Hayling Island RNLI Lifeboat Station
Hayling Island RNLI Lifeboat Station will be holding its annual Open Day on Sunday 26th July 2009 from 10.30am to 4.30pm. Visitors to the station will be able to look around the new building and the voluntary lifeboat crew will be demonstrating how the new Atlantic 85 lifeboat, Derrick Battle, and the D Class lifeboat, Amanda, James & Ben, are launched and recovered using special adapted tractors. There will also be RNLI souvenirs on sale, children’s activities, and, subject to operational requirements, displays from HM Coastguard (Hayling), Hampshire Fire & Rescue, Hayling First Responders and the Lowland Search Dogs (Southern). There will be a Chichester Harbour Conservancy display and the Southern Model Lifeboats Society will have their models on a pool. The lifeboat station is on the SE corner of Hayling Island off Bracklesham Road. The event is free. |

| Driftwood Sculpture |
Be inspired by Chichester Harbour and the guidance of professional sculptors Ganesh and Elaine Kings to create a work of art with driftwood. Start collecting driftwood now (store it in a dry place). Tools and natural dowling will be available along with extra driftwood and completed sculptures for inspiration. You should bring a board upon which to take your sculptures home. Bring a packed lunch. Fee £15 per person to include refreshments. BOOKING ESSENTIAL.
