Environmental Health Team say “Chill out” during F
To mark the start of Food Safety Week (7 - 13 June), Havant Borough Council’s Environmental Health Food Safety Team will be reminding residents in the borough about the importance of good food hygiene.
Road shows being held across the borough will invite residents to take part in the “Fridge of Fear” an interactive display that highlights the dangers of food poisoning when bugs get transferred from raw to cooked foods.
David Lesser, Deputy Manager for Environmental Health at Havant Borough Council said “Every year around 400 people within the Havant area get ill from food poisoning. To help people learn how to prevent such illness we are running these road shows.
Anyone joining us can also learn about cooking food properly and avoiding cross contamination between raw and cooked meats.”
Road shows will take place daily between 9.30am and 4pm

"The Importance of Being Earnest"
The Classic Comedy by Oscar Wilde
Probably the best loved and most delightful comedy of the 1890s. With characters such as Jack ‘Ernest’ Worthing, Cicely, Gwendolyn, Algernon and the redoubtable Lady Bracknell, this farce of improbable coincidences and implausible circumstances is just the thing for a midsummer evening.
Directed by John Blackwell

Raft Race (The Ship Inn, Langstone)
Get building!
With rafts from the Island making up a good third of the fleet, Hayling have a good chance of winning this event again. This popular, enjoyable and colourful event keeps on growing and has been an Island favourite for many years.
There will be a BBQ, Fancy Dress Crew Competition, and a live band will play throughout the afternoon.
Due to the early high tide (High Water approx 1230 Height 4.5 m) this year contestants should be ready to hit the water from 1130 onwards. Judging of fancy dress will take place prior to the race.
Is your pub or club entering a team? Support this unique part of our local heritage, get a team together, build a raft and enter.
The event raises money for the Rocky Appeal, St Johns Ambulance & RNLI.
