Practical conservation workday at Sinah Common
Join us to help manage the important habitats of Sinah Common. This event is part of the Hayling Island Beach Wardens Project delivered in partnership with Havant Borough Council and supported by the Heritage Lottery Fund.

We will be working in an area of ancient oak woodland that forms part of Sinah Common. The natural process of regeneration within the wood is being hampered by the invasion of introduced holm oak. We will be removing holm oak seedlings and shrubs by pulling and cutting, to allow native oak seedlings the space and light they need to thrive.

Meet at the Gun Site Car Park off Ferry Road. 10.30am-3pm. Please register in advance for this event.

Tools and equipment and suitable work gloves will be provided. Please wear suitable outdoor clothing and sturdy footwear.

It will be of interest to those who knew the Warner locations as staff or visitors over the last 70 years.

The British Heart Foundation’s Hayling Santa Jog
Sunday 19th December 2010

The British Heart Foundation’s Hayling Santa Jog is back for it’s third year. Don a Santa Suit, strap on your trainers, wear a smile and walk or run to help with heart disease this Christmas.
Starts at the Ferry Boat Inn and ends at the Lifeboat Inn. A shorter course for children will start at the Fairground. Meet at 1130am, event starts at 12 pm. Book in on the day or register online info@santajog.co.uk or call 023 92 468978. £5 or sponsorship (either includes a free adult Santa suite) children under 12 years old free, family ticket £10.

Mulled wine for the adults to start off and a mince pie and sausage rolls for everyone at the finish. Lemonade and squash for the kids.

This Santa Jog is quite a spectacle and is great fun for the family. Hayling Joggers will again support this worthwhile event and will muster as many Santa’s as possible.
So to summaries for £5 you get a glass of mulled wine, a mince pie and a sausage roll, a Santa outfit, participating in an event, which will probably set a new record for the largest number Santa’s on Hayling and the feel good factor of knowing you have helped a worthy cause.

Money and time well spent!
