Reading - Christmas Carol
The initial reading for the HIADS Christmas production of 'A Christmas Carol', anyone interested in taking part will be welcome.

Absolute Beginners Windsurfing Taster Sessions
As part of the National Windsurfing Festival on 3rd and 4th September Havant Borough Council have organised Windsurfing taster sessions for Adults and children (aged 8 and above) that live in the borough of Havant.



Sessions last 1.5 hours and start at 10am, 12 noon, 2pm and 4pm on both days. To reserve a space simply complete the booking form found on the website link and post to address shown along with payment of £5 per person.

Sessions take place at 'The Inn on the Beach' - Hayling Island

Celebrating 40 Years Managing Chichester Harbour –
Visit our fascinating exhibition looking back at the history of the Conservancy. Based in the Rudkin Room, we will have large display panels covering themes such as Wildlife, Access, Communication, Facilities for Yachtsmen and Harbour Patrol. Each panel highlights key moments from the last 40 years along with a range of photos that are sure to bring back many memories!

Please note the exhibition is only open in September on Saturday 10:30am-4:30pm and Sunday 2:30pm-4:30pm. Free entry.

A show led by 'The Three Belles' singing group reminiscent of wartime shows and featuring 1940's songs and music. At the Station Theatre on 3rd September.

Open Auditions - A Christmas Carol
HIADS 2012 pantomime will be ‘A Christmas Carol’
based on the well known Charles Dickens story of
1843. Dickens was born in Portsmouth and 2012 marks
the 200th anniversary of his birth.
As with all HIADS pantos, apart from all the usual
well known Dickens’ characters, there will be parts for
all who wish to tread the boards.
The story of miserly old Ebenezer Scrooge is full of exciting
dramatic opportunities, and we all know that
Rob and his team will make the most of these to bring
another exciting winter show to the Station.
There are parts for actors of all ages from Marley’s
Ghost through ghostly spirits and superb roles for
younger actors from young Scrooge to poor Tiny Tim.

All are welcome to audition. If you get a part you will have to join HIADS.

Beginners Traditional Rowing Course
Rowing in fixed seat boats is one of the fastest growing sports around – from Thames boats to Cornish Gigs - rowing is one of the genuine ‘sports for all’ because anyone can do it at any age and it does not take long to learn.

Here's your chance to give it a go!
Exercise, get out and about and meet new people with a shared interest.

Due to its popularity this is the 2nd course following on from first course starting on 6th August.

6 week course starting on Saturday 10th September at Langstone

Fullers Brewery Annual Clay pigeon shoot
This Saturday sees the return of the annual clay shooting competition at The Maypole pub.
This year will once again see over 25 teams of 4 from across the region competing for the prestigious "Gales" barrel & the much coveted wooden spoon for the lowest scoring team.

As in previous years, all profits will be donated to the Hayling First Responders.
Special thanks of course to Messrs Simon Walter and Simon Wilson who's lands will be used for the event, and without their support this would not be possible.
Also, both the North & South Hayling clay shooting clubs are once again organising this very successful venue on behalf of the Responders & the local community.
Feel free to come along and watch.

Pig Racing
On Saturday the 10th September the Hayling Island Businessmen Club (HIBC) are hosting a "Pig Racing" event at the community Centre in West Town open from 6.45pm. Its not to be taken to seriously and to be a bit of a giggle, teams and individuals can enter. The proceeds are towards the HIBC community bus. It's a fun evening with food included.

'2012 1 Year To Go!'
The London 2012 Olympics are fast approaching. This is your chance to make sure your sports club and its members will gain the maximum benefit from all the opportunities the games will offer.

This conference will give you the opportunity to mix with other sports clubs and share ideas around development and engagement activities. The evening will also include a number of relevant presentations.

Presentations will focus on how Hampshire will benefit from the 2012 Olympics, the benefits of Clubmark, recruiting volunteers to support your sports club and Olympic activity in East Hampshire and Havant.

This is a FREE event and so booking is essential. There are only a few spaces remaining.

Games and stalls, fair rides, bouncy castle, fun slide, kids karaoke, tractor rides, go-kart rides, Pimms tent with soft drinks, burgers and hot dogs, free parking.

£2 Adults, £1 children or Family Ticket £5, pay on the gate.

Proceeds towards the running of the Hayling Island Minibus and other local beneficiaries.

Managing Chichester Harbour AONB
An indoor session in the warmth and dry of the Education Room at the Lifeboat Station on Hayling Island, hearing about what is involved in managing the Chichester Harbour Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty which, includes the eastern side of Hayling Island. With Alison Fowler, AONB Manager.
A free return minibus trip sponsored by the Friends of Chichester Harbour is available from Chichester and Havant railway stations, contact the Harbour Office to find out times and book your minibus seat at least 24 hours in advance. No need to book this event if you do not want to use the minibus.
Fee: £2 per person (£1 to RNLI) to include refreshments
