A 9 mile (14km) walk around the shoreline of Thorney Island from Emsworth. Please note that the path is quite worn and uneven in places. Bring a packed lunch and snacks. Organised by Chichester Harbour Conservancy.
Fee: £3 on the day

The first ' open to all' event of 'The Huggers.' Bring your uke and join in playing or singing or come along to this light hearted event and find out what we are about. Some play sheets will be available. The proposed song list is on the website.
Please ignore the end date, there was no option for 'ongoing' Venue is The Lifeboat Inn, 30 Seafront Hayling. From 7.30-10pm approx.
The initial aim is for us to meet monthly on the 1st Monday of each month.

Sunday 9th June is Open Farm Sunday, when many farms will open their doors. Northney Farm will be open from 11am to 4pm where you can visit the cows, have a tractor and trailer ride, learn more about farming, and try some of our delicious ice cream - and hopefully finish the day with a visit to our tea room.

| An Evening With Strictly Star Ann Widdecombe |
Meet one of the best loved stars from Strictly Come Dancing in recent years, Ann Widdecombe who will be on Hayling Island in June as part of her national tour to launch her autobiography Strictly Ann.
Ann will be giving a Talk on stage then signing copies of her book at an event organised by The Hayling Island Bookshop at 7.30pm on Monday June 10th at the Community Centre,Hayling Park, Station Road, Hayling Island.
Tickets for the event are on sale now for the Talk and Q&A and each ticket will include a signed copy of the new autobiography (in Hardback rrp £20).
There will also be the opportunity to meet Ann and have the book personally dedicated by her.

The bids are in, now it's time for grants for older people to be Approved By You
Havant Borough residents can decide where grant money for older people goes thanks to the Approved By You initiative.
Applications for grants of between £250 and £500 have been received from all over the borough and will be awarded to local voluntary groups that help older people at a Voting Event to be held at the Public Service Plaza next Tuesday (11 June) from 1-5pm. Places at the event are limited, so please book through the contact details below.
At the event, members of the public will be given the opportunity to hear directly from the local groups before making their vote.
A total of £10,000 is available and has been secured by Community First HEH & Havant Borough Council’s Community Team from Hampshire County Council’s ‘Have your Say’ fund.
Councillor Yvonne Weeks, portfolio holder for Economy and Communities said ‘the Approved By You grant scheme is putting decision making into the hands of local people. These grants will help groups to improve the lives of older people in Havant Borough and I hope as many local people as possible will come to the event and have their say.’
Tim Houghton, Chief Executive of Community First HEH added ‘We've had another high response rate for this round of grants. It's great to support our small local voluntary groups and give a voice to local residents on how the money is spent.’.

Come along to view our film based on the 1940 diary of teenager Strahan Soames which documents the battles taking place overhead and how they affected his family and friends. The diary has been used as source material for a short film written and produced by students at Havant College. Join us to find out more about the making of the film, view the film and then take time to chat and share your memories or family stories. Organised by Chichester Harbour Conservancy. | Cornish Pilot Gig Regatta |
Visiting Gigs from Swanage, Weymouth and Portland will race against our own boats, Spirit of Langstone and Heart of Hayling for trophies in mens, ladies, vets and mixed races.
Races are short and sharp: 1.5 nautical miles taking 15 to 20 minutes each.
Gigs are 32 foot long wooden boats rowed enthusiastically and energetically by six rowers, steered and motivated by a coxswain.
Gigs produce some very close racing and is great to watch!
First race 10.30am going through to around 2pm. The course is weather dependent but is likely to be within the Langstone Harbour/Saltings area and the finish line will be at the North Slip in Northney Marina.
Great viewing locations include the north shore alongside the Langstone Hotel and the Bridge. |
