First edition on Olympia Press of Naked Lunch. I saw one of these at a bookfair in Barnes once for £25 but didn't have enough money to get it...

Current selling price : minimum of £1000, and it's not unusual to see it for at least double that

Even now it still annoys occasionally

Book fair - can't resist 'em

One of Missy Yellowhammers sisters lived in Putney, so it was a short walk past 'Bolans Tree' to get there. I agree though - it is a bit of a hell hole, but tolerable if you don't have to speak to any of the locals

In Defence of Barnes

Barnes Common is every bit as good as Hayling Common, and the WWT Wetland Centre at Barnes is brilliant.

Barnes also has excellent rail and bus links.

Barnes' main disadvantage is the vast army of carborne commuters who traipse into Central London from their leafy suburb homes and back again every weekday - a nightmare of pollution for the locals - some of whom are good friends of mine.

Is that the one with the typewriter that turns into a bug?
