I have no problem with people copying copyright material for their own use. What I am concerned with is people getting copyright material for free.

If Amazon's DRM is easy to break (and I can confirm that it is), you really don't stand a chance to provide meaningful DRM for your own site. That can, however, be to your benefit. People dislike DRM for many reasons. Publishing wihout DRM can therefore mean you make more paid-for sales overall. I'd suggest making your position clear to purchasers and appeal to people's sense of fair play. I can understand that might be uncomfortable for you, but if you hunt around I suspect you'll find a lot of writers coming to the same conclusion.

Thanks for all your comments. Having spoken with other authors, publishers and distributors the consensus is that it is better to risk people sharing your book (especially your first book) than it is to put in DRM. Consider it low-cost marketing!

On that basis, please PM with your email address if you would like me to email you a pre-publication copy for free (on condition you send me an honest criticism if you have read the book). Let me know if you want a Kindle version, a PDF version or a DOC version.

As a taster, below is the "blurb":
He was looking for a challenging project to occupy his mind. A chance meeting on a train starts a chain of events where Jonathan Long’s curious mental powers lead him through conspiracy and deception in the Whitehall corridors of power.

The tension ratchets up as Jonathan desperately tries to penetrate the minds of a government minister, a former IRA terrorist and an MI5 officer.

From a peaceful village in the Pennines to the remote Welsh coast and on to the winter storms of the North Sea, Jonathan finds a bigger project than he ever imagined.

lost me after the 1st 3 lines of the blurb, you mentioned trains / curious mental powers / whitehall...

*yawn* sorry HW, but '50 shades of boredom & utter tedium' springs to mind...

//whitehall was the killer...

try re-factoring the blurb will ya?

Thanks for the feedback, Spacey. I may try re-working the blurb.

Like any book, it is not for everyone.

I used Google AdWords to analyse the common search keywords. Monthly worldwide searches:

Railway: 45.5 million
Terror: 13.6 million
Spy: 16 million
Conspiracy: 3.35 million

(By the way, Sex (as a keyword) gets 506 million hits a month.)

On the basis of the above and your constructive crticism, I have re-worked the blurb for your consideration:

He was looking for a challenging project to occupy his mind. A chance meeting on a railway train starts a chain of events where Jonathan Long’s curious ability to enter peoples thoughts and give them hallucinations leads him into a web of deception reaching to the highest levels of government.

The tension ratchets up as Jonathan desperately tries to penetrate the minds of a government minister, a former IRA terrorist and an MI5 officer and attempts to thwart a plot to bring terror to Britain’s railways.
