The Island as a whole probably wouldn't qualify as a 'village' as such, but I can see no reason why one of its component villages, such as West Town, Mengham or Eastoke Corner couldn't apply.

i thought that when i got a letter through last night... yay - more crud on the windows.. and oh look, they decide to rainbow the beach, when there's not going to be any storms for a while & when the tourists start coming down... thas handy then...

Must admit does seem totally daft to do it through part of the main season

Yeah do it at the end of the season before the storms but not in the middle of the main season, talk about kill the tourist trade off

Whats the betting it cant be delayed as if it is then they lose the funding

Its these sort of actions that Scare me" No thought, no planning and no thought to the tourist trade.
I will be posting photos of a breakwater development in Europe, four times the size of the proposed Hayling one and all built with EU money under the pretext of "Protection"
The fact that it has enhanced the town has nothing to do with anything although I am being told at the moment that any EU funding allocated and to be used for "Protection" in the UK cannot be used to enhance the area! All rather nuts to me. I would swear but apparently I am not allowed to.
We are working hard on this,
