Default Blasted Wasps!

I hate wasps!!!

I made red tomato chutney yesterday and the wasps of Hayling Island made a waspline for my kitchen. Hot, stirring my brew, tetchy because it takes ages to boil down and aggravated by these pests, I wondered what they were for. I'm not scared of them, but PJ is very wary and he aggravates them by uselessly flapping a teatowel at them. I try to ignore them, but even I don't like it when they get around my face and in my hair.

But today!!!! I've just made marmalade and the sweet fruity smell attracted the wasps of the universe to my kitchen. I've just butchered the last one, lurking buzzingly behind the sitting room curtains. I have ruined my net curtains and the wallpaper with Raid spray and PJ doesn't want to go in there now in case he curls up and dies like the wasp.

What are they for?

Damned Wasps. There is an article on Ceefax at the moment on local news page160. 2 men have died in Hampshire after suffering anaphylactic shock following wasp stings. Experts warn that deaths from wasp stings has risen massively.
Swat the swine I say.

They do have a purpose - dragonflies eat them, as does the wasp eating spider and in turn waspies eat other small garden pests. I hate the little ******* and always 'Raid' them as soon as they enter my house. I am really allergic to them so they are the only insect I kill on sight. Spiders, moths etc all get let back outside very gently only to be gobbled up by Petra if shes about!!

Thanks for the info, Fur. I still hate them, interesting though they may be.
