If you have animals it's your responsibility to keep them safe from predators.

hindsight is a wonderful thing, but to be realistic my girls are out in the garden all day and put themselves to bed and then i secure the coop and run, however 6pm is pretty early for a fox to be roaming around its very light still, so i'm pretty sure that it wasn't them being irresponsible it just happened to be a random attack.

Our neighbour lost ten chicken to a fox between 10.00am & 11.00am! Her dog never even barked!

Foxes are so very common in London now that it's hardly noteworthy when they are seen - daytime or nightime. I saw one, yesterday, jump up a fence heavily covered with ivy. It was my assumption that it was after a birds nest so I went out and shooed it away. Shortly after I returned to the house I looked out to see that it had returned once again and was calmly walking away with six little chick legs sticking out the side of its mouth.

yes it is, but they are far more likely to attack chickens and ducks in daylight hours now as our rubbish is so much more secure in our wheelie bins than it ever was in ordinary dustbins. We've removed a food source so they have to find an alternative, sadly this includes mine and others much loved pets!
