Default Pheasants

At about 10.00am this morning, there were 5 pheasants foraging in the area of uncut field south of the tennis courts on the Hayling College field. It was a lovely sight. I expect that we'll hear the sound of guns soon from Tournerbury Farm.

I must admit that I do like pheasant in port wine sauce. I roast the bird first, then pick off all the flesh and casserole it in port and shallots. Yum!

Ealier this year there were often one of two pheasants in the garden outside my study; beautiful creatures, and I was often sore tempted to have one for the pot, but decided not to. You can get as close as 2 metres from them and they will almost eat out of your hand.

Lovely creatures!

I often see a brace of pheasants crossing the road when I go to work in the early (for me) hours. and yes beautiful birds especially cooked with apricots and red wine (port wine and shallots sounds yummy too)
