Hard to get out - but we've scraped it clean enough to get a test image. Had forgotton how much damage the sun had done to the CCD on this little cam.
Going to get the IOTB cam working again now (hopefully) then might play a bit.

Aha Pedro! I expected you to chime in earlier during the Operating System discussion.
I haven't heard the magic words "OS2" of late !

Things sure have improved, The Exmouth Cam uses Windows and doesn't get hardly any downtime.
With regards to what OS to use for this application Linux is still far superior, there are many apps that I know of that do a great job of streaming cameras, I personally run a webcam with pan tilt zoom as a bit of a test using rs232 for the controls on a windows machine and i stream the image to the web using a linux box, the applications I use are camserv (static jpeg stream) and VLC, which I relay the stream to a server with a lot of bandwidth (similar to camstreams.com or whatever the URL is) I don't recommend shelling out for one of these PTZ IP cams as they will not be very suitable for a large ammount of viewers, it is best to stick with a PC based system for scalability. |

I'm looking for a TPZ IP camera, ideally wireless, but could consider wired. What are considered the best buy at the moment for indoor and outdoor use (ie one of each).
