Oooer whats a TPZ? I got the panasonic blc 30 IP cam for the weasels. Had no problems with it so far, although it does say working temperatures down to +5C, but it has been colder and still worked ok.

Well, If you are looking for something that is for home use, and only you will be viewing it and you want to view an area that is wider than the cams field of view I don't recommend you buy a PTZ camera, you will be able to see just as much with say... 2 or 3 static cameras at half the price you would with a single PTZ camera.

But if you really wanted a PTZ cam for outdoors I recommend something like a VCL dome or similar. Axis do a good range of equipment but it isn't cheap!

ah. PTZ. yep got that on the Panasonic IP cam. Only I locked it off for general viewing. Will be making substantial changes to weaselcam in new year IE: building longer single storey 'weaselarium' with more toys etc. Need to move a few sockets etc first, and have a sit down & think about reachability for mucking out etc. Can hardly have a 5ft long door.

I was looking at this approach, but didn't think that camserv streamed fully. All the working examples I've seen have just been flicking through jpegs. Couldn't pop me a link to a demo could you Adcuz - as this would be my preferred approach.

Mat, Camserv does flick through jpegs but when done on a decent connection and using good javascript it will look as good as a stream, but this isn't really good for a project of that scale, but VLC relaying a stream to say.. cam streams.com or your own server is a good sollution.

My demo will be up and running hopefully tonight I will post a link then.

At least that confirms what I thought with camserv. Stop-frame type animation is rather naff though - even if you create something like a flash front end to cache and serve them more smoothly.

I've been taking a look at VLC again lately - it's certainly come along since I looked at it last - definitely something I will be playing with.

be good to see a demo though- thanks.
