Well DD kindly lent me his (longer than mine) ladder and also did an excellent job at footing it for me this morning.
So how did we get on then ......... not as well as I had hoped TBH

I've had to do the un-thinkable ........and........evict Boris

We've pulled the cam down and I've now got to wrestle with a dam corroded screw in the housing before I can get it apart and do the final trace to work out what wires go where.

Why is it there's always one dam screw that wont undo, its never several its always just the one that stops you from doing the job

Ah well , lunch time now , I'll tackle the screw after lunch but it looks like its going to have to be drilled out

Nope Boris got nought well apart from a flick and me saying Oi get out of this ere camera

Right I can say that the cam is fine and I've had an image on me telly at home, so now its just a case of re-assembleing it all now I know what wiring does what and then going back down and reconnecting it all back up .......phew

Trouble is when the housings is all ally it dosnt really help that much especially when its in such a un friendly environment.
TBH the housing is rather dead and I'm not very happy with it considering its housing a fairly top spec Sony cam unit in it.
I have a feeling I might have to go on bended knee's to Mat and see if we can get another one, would seem a shame to lose the cam just for a housing

I think I can bring this one back from the dead for now with plenty of cleaning up and slapping some vasaline on all the joints but its something we need to look at if we want the surf cam to be working long term.
