Canoeing

Easy access, calm water and panoramic views are on offer to those wishing to canoe of the shores of Hayling Island. There are no restrictions on where you can launch on any part of Hayling, except for the private stretches of the beaches at Sandy and Black point. Hayling Bay offers deep water and when conditions are right, surf for keen canoeists. A canoeist can paddle for miles if they wish to in these waters. Obviously care should be taken of other water users, especially swimmers. Langstone and Chichester Harbour, allow for paddling in very calm waters and up into the creeks of Mengham and Mill Rythes. Care must be taken in being aware of the tides as the mud flats can be dangerous if run aground upon.
