Powerboating

All these sports are popular on Hayling, what with it's calm waters and easy accessibility. There is only one launch site available for the general public, other than the slipways of the various Sailing Clubs.

There are a few restrictions that persons wishing to use Hayling's waters should be aware of.

  • Speed is restricted to 8 knots within 300m of the shore. Except for a small strip opposite Chichester Avenue, 30m wide.
  • If you wish to use the designated water-skiing, jet skiing area in the mouth of Langstone Harbour, then a License is required. This license can be gained from the Langstone Harbour Board.

The Ferry Slip Way
At the furthest reaches of Hayling Island, is the public slip way at the Hayling Ferry beach. This area can get very busy in the summer months, what with the power boat enthusiasts and the public who sit outside the Ferry Boat Inn and watch. This is also the location of the Langstone Harbour board Office where licenses are gained.

Parking charges are in force for those wishing to park their cars and their trailers, both in the Beachlands car park and the car park of the Ferry Boat Inn which is manned from the early hours.

More information about waterskiing around Hayling can be got from the Langstone Harbour Waterskiers Association.
