Olympics at the Scarecrow Festival
- Fri 27th Jul 2012
This will be the last scarecrow festival for some time,, Marie Telford says to give the contributors a rest and chance to think up new ideas.
The festival starts tomorrow (July 28th) and they hope it wil attract upwards of 75 entries.
As the theme is the Olympics, expect to see some synchronized swimmers. The categories are track and field, water-based, team events and individual events.
The winners will be announced on August 5 at Eastoke Corner where the Mangled Wurzels will play a free concert.
Judging takes place on Sunday and is always done by people who live off the island.
Emsworth councillor Brendan Gibb-Gray will be joined by Amanda O’Reilly, the director of The Spring Arts and Heritage Centre, in Havant.
It begins at 2pm to 5pm and if there is heavy rain the event will be moved to the Lifeboat Inn on the Seafront.
Entry forms are available not only from the Hayling Book shop, but many other outlets around the Island.
