Scarecrow Festival Enters Week Two

In brilliant sunshine, the Mayor of Havant presented the 2008 Scarecrow Festival Awards for the Best in Show and the eighteen category winners. Winner’s details will be available on the Festival website later today.

The Festival now goes on for a second week with Scarecrow Trail sheets remaining on sale across the Island. Thousands of people have already taken the Scarecrow Trail and many more are expected to arrive on Hayling this week to seek out the elusive figures.

With so many photogenic figures on show there have been lots of new articles about the festival featuring the some of the Scarecrow figures however by prior arrangement, full sets of photographs will not be published on either the community forum www.hayling.co.uk or the Scarecrow website www.haylingscarecrows.co.uk until the date for handing in completed Trail sheets has passed.

Organiser Colin Telford commented “We are very grateful to the Hayling Forum members and others who have taken time out to act as official photographers for this year’s Festival and for the Forum agreeing not to publish all the pictures they have taken privately until the Trail sheet close of date – 5pm on Monday 11th August. This allows everyone who is taking the Scarecrow Trail to have the same challenge of finding and identifying the figures.”

Completed Trail Sheets are entered into a draw for a holiday for up to four people at one of the other Parkdean Holiday centres in the UK.

Winners photos will be posted here on hayling.co.uk as soon as we have the pictures and a full gallery will be published once the competition draws to a close.
