Safer Neighbourhoods update - January

- Mon 5th Jan 2009

MOBILE POLICE STATION DATES

The Mobile Police Station will be returning again in January on the following dates –

Tuesday 20/01/09
Creek Road area 10am – 12 noon

Wednesday 21/01/09
Beachlands 9am – 1pm

Thursday 22/1/09
Mengham Road, Mengham 10am – 1pm

Residents are again urged to come along to one of the surgeries where they can meet a member of the team or a local councillor and discuss any issues they may.

CYCLE CODING
Following on from last months report on the number of recent cycle thefts on the Island. I am pleased to advise that we will now be in a position to security code bikes. The coding is certainly more improved than the traditional “Stamping” we used to offer. A security sticker and various markings are applied to the cycle with your postcodes. This is a free service and we shall be carrying it out on all the Mobile Police Station dates. If you are unable to make any of the dates then please ask any of the team if you would like your cycle coded.

THEFTS FROM THE CO-OP

There has been a high number of shoplifting from the Co-op involving young people.
We are working with the local college and the store itself to send the message out that these offences will be dealt with in a positive way. This type of behaviour can alter the future of these young people as they do receive a police record.
My team have done a number of talks to groups on these types of offences discussing the possible implications on the future of offenders.
Should you know of or be involved in any group that you feel may benefit from any advice such as this then please contact us.

YOUR VOICE COUNTS

There have been a number of “Your Voice Counts” leaflets returned you’re your comments on that matter to you. I would like to thank those that have replied or downloaded forms and returned them. Please don’t forget that you can contact any of the team on any of the methods below to submit your priorities. They can be about any issues that you may have and will be raised at the next Safer Neighbourhood Panel Meeting. Unfortunately the meeting due in December was cancelled due to the Havant Borough Council “Have Your Say” meeting at the community Centre so those previously submitted priorities will go to January’s meeting.

CONTACTING THE TEAM

You can contact us on 0845 045 45 45 and ask for Hayling Island's Safer Neighbourhoods team. If no one is available to take your call, please leave a message and an officer will call you back. Alternatively you can email us on hayling.island.snt@hampshire.pnn.police.uk

We look forward to hearing from you.
