Police Station Opening Hours
Since introducing the Your Voice Counts leaflets I have had numerous responses asking that the station be opened earlier in the day and to include some weekend opening.
I am more than happy to review the opening hours for the station although I must point out this is a procedure that will take some time and naturally the result will not please everyone.
We are unable to increase the hours especially with more ways than ever of being able to report incidents, for example, e-mail, 101, 0845 045 45 45.
That said if the demand warrants a change in the opening times we may be able to change.
As I have said on many occasions I am always susceptible to suggestions and would like to hear from you regarding this.
The station is currently open Monday – Friday between 4pm and 8pm, giving 20 hours per week cover.
Please get in touch with us if you feel these hours could be adjusted to anything more beneficial and what your ideas would be. Again I would re-iterate that I cannot exceed 20 hours in a week
Safer Neighbourhood Panel Update
The Safer Neighbourhood Panel met on Monday 12th Jan and discussed a number of priorities that you have submitted. Firstly may I take this opportunity to thank you all for your contributions to the Panel to date.
One of the main areas that came up was the opening hours of the station and you will see from above that I am looking at this issue. Another issue was speeding vehicles in particular in Southwood Road. I have spoken with the Community Reassurance Team at Cosham Roads Policing Unit and am aware that they have already deployed resources to look at this.
I would also ask everyone to continue to submit their priorities to us.
Could you give a few hours to help police in your community?
Police support volunteers are people with the time to give and the enthusiasm to make a difference. You don't necessarily need to have any particular skills - although specialists are always welcome - just the right attitude and community values.
Having the support of people who give up their time and talents to help their local police teams means that we can keep officers and staff where you want them to be - out of offices and actively working in your neighbourhoods.
Perhaps you want to increase your skills and become more employable, perhaps you are recently retired with more spare time and skills to put to good use, or perhaps you are simply motivated to do something meaningful with your spare time. The hours can be flexible to suit you and your commitments, and the roles vary from administration support to victim contact work.
