Police are appealing for information following an incident of criminal damage in Hayling Island.



At about 2.20am on Sunday, June 14 the victim’s Reliant Robin car was parked, locked and secure, on St Andrews Road, Hayling Island when the offender or offenders broke into the vehicle, pushed it across the road and set light to it. The car was completely destroyed by the fire.



The vehicle belonged to an elderly couple from Lemington Spa who had been house sitting at the address in St Andrews Road.



PC Clive Boiling, said: “I am appealing for information to help identity those responsible for this mindless destruction of an elderly couple’s Reliant Robin car. The car was parked at the far end of St Andrews Road adjacent to Mengham Park.



“The victims, who are currently visiting the area on a short break, are completely devastated and extremely upset by this incident. I would urge anyone with any information to come forward and help us locate the person or people responsible.”
