“At Last” The Penultimate ‘Playing on the Plaza’ Show!
- Thu 27th Aug 2009
Portsmouth based acoustic pop/rock band “At Last”, will be taking centre stage at Hayling’s Eastoke Corner Plaza on the afternoon Sunday 30th August, for the fifth of this year’s Hayling’s BEST ‘Playing on the Plaza’ series of free live music events.
A four piece band comprising Nic and Chris on guitar, Josh on bass and drummer Stu. They have performed regularly since 2007 as an acoustic group, until the joining of bassist Josh in 2008 brought them to their present line up and format. ‘At Last’ are creating quite a buzz as they perform frequent giggs at venues across the south.
Also on the afternoon’s agenda will be the announcement by Colin and Marie Telford of Hayling’s BEST sister project, the Hayling Island Scarecrow Festival, of the election results from their recent ‘People’s Choice Straw Poll’, to find “the most popular figure on Hayling Island”. Together with the results of the Trail Sheet Winners Prize Draw.
Sadly the four piece band rock & roll band “Guilded Youth”, who were originally booked to share the afternoon’s programme with ‘At Last”, have had to withdraw at the last minute due to an untimely footballing injury to their drummer Niall. I’m sure we all wish him a speedy recovery and return to musical form, and that the band will be able to join us on a future Plaza date, some time in the not too distant future.
In the meantime it’s all set to happen on the Hayling Island seafront between 3pm and 5pm, this Sunday on the Eastoke Corner ‘Plaza’, near to the Lifeboat pub and the Seaside Railway station. For details of other projects from the Hayling’s BEST Market Town Initiative including the sixth and final Playing on the Plaza gig for this season on Sunday 20th September, the Discover Hayling Local History Team, and the Hayling’s BEST Community Youth Centre Project, please visit the group’s website to be found at http://www.haylingsbest.co.uk/
