Police in Hayling Island arrest man following discovery of cannabis factory

Police in Hayling Island have arrested a 45-year-old man on suspicion of the production of cannabis following the discovery of a cannabis factory at an commercial premises in St Mary's Road on Wednesday, December 30.
Officers were alerted to the existence of the factory by reports of a strong smell of cannabis coming from the location.
On entering and searching the premises, cannabis plants were discovered along with equipment used in their cultivation.
All of this was seized.
Sergeant Steve Pratley said: " We were alerted to a strange smell coming from a commercial premises by local residents and on attendance we could clearly smell cannabis and acted on it in a swift manner to prevent further drugs production and supply."
"This is an excellent example of the community pulling together and reporting suspicious activity to the police. As a result of this I am pleased to say another drugs factory has been closed down."
