Police arrest three following burglary at beach hut

Police in Hayling Island have arrested three youths following a burglary at a beach hut along the Seafront, Hayling Island.

The beach hut was broken into on the evening of Thursday, January 14.

Sergeant Steve Pratley said: "Burglary and damage to the beach huts has been a team priority for quite some time.

"Last year we suffered the terrible arsons to the huts that had been broken into and it is therefore very pleasing to report that these arrests have come about following targeted patrols of the area.

"Two PCSO's were on patrol when they heard the sound of wood breaking. On further investigation, they saw a group of youths running off, who were positively identified as being responsible.

"The area was searched by the rest of my team and the suspects captured. These youths have then been arrested and interviewed."

All three youths, who cannot be named for legal reasons, have currently been bailed on suspicion of burglary and criminal damage, to reappear at the police station on 18th February
