Statement from Sgt Pratley - Hayling Island Safer Neighbourhood Team

It has been highlighted to me that there is concern regarding the reporting of criminal incidents that have been posted onto the Hayling Forum.
These reports originate from a Neighbourhood Watch ring round system. A user of the forum "Merlot" had initially approached me and asked if it was permissible for information from these reports to go out onto the Forum site. I have expressed that I am more than happy for this as it is information that the Police would make available to anyone that requested it. There are no personal details furnished on the Neighbourhood Watch Reports and the details posted onto the Forum give Island residents an up to date picture of activity that is going on. There are also programs available that give similar information as to the break down of crime figures.

I would further like to take this opportunity to thank those neighbourhood watch coordinators personally for their continued support and commitment.
