Taxi Scheme for Hayling Islanders

A taxi share scheme comes into operation later this month for Hayling Islanders needing transport to the island's ferry.








Hampshire County Council, Havant Borough Council and the Countryside Agency are supporting the scheme following the withdrawal of bus services 32 and 33 during the winter months due to low passenger numbers....From 28 October, residents on the island can book seats on taxis operated by C Cars by calling 023 9246 8888 or 023 9246 6977.








The subsidised price of the journey will be between 60p and £1 depending on where people are collected. Passengers will be driven to the Hayling Island ferry for the trip to Eastney, where they can board First bus services 15 or 57 to Portsmouth city centre.








The scheme runs throughout the winter. Leaflets about the scheme are available from the County Council by calling 01962 846479. Copies can also be obtained from the Hayling Island tourist information shop and the ferry operator.
