Small grants scheme to boost local entrepreneurs
- Thu 15th Jul 2010
Havant Borough Council has grants for 20 new businesses still available for local entrepreneurs and small businesses to help boost the local economy.
The money comes from the Local Authority Business Growth Incentives scheme (LABGI) which was made available to local authorities to help with economic development and encourage local people to start-up their own businesses.
To date 40 new local businesses have applied for this funding and are currently awaiting payment on completion of the six month period of trading to qualify. Various different types of businesses have applied meeting the criteria, from all over the borough.
To qualify for the grant your business must be located in the Borough of Havant, been trading for less than 12 months and be a full time business. The grant of £500 will make a positive contribution towards the cost of creating a new business or social enterprise.
Councillor Mike Fairhurst, portfolio holder for economic development at Havant Borough Council said: “This is fantastic opportunity for local entrepreneurs and new business owners to kick-start their businesses with an injection of cash.
“The money could be used for marketing materials to assist in building awareness of their new business; it’s up to them how they choose to spend the money.
“There are only 20 of these grants still available so if you think you qualify apply today!
