50 New local businesses benefit

- Fri 3rd Sep 2010

he small business grants scheme to boost local entrepreneurs has benefited 50 new businesses already in the Borough of Havant and there are still seven grants available.
Havant Borough Council had grants for 60 new businesses for local entrepreneurs and small businesses to help boost the local economy. Fifty grants have now been taken up and another three are pending leaving just seven grants remaining

The money comes from the Local Authority Business Growth Incentives scheme (LABGI) which was made available to local authorities to help with economic development and encourage local people to start-up their own businesses.
To date 50 new local businesses have applied for this funding and 20 firms have received payments on completion of the six month period of trading to qualify. Various different types of businesses have applied meeting the criteria, from all over the borough.

To qualify for the grant your business must be located in the Borough of Havant, been trading for less than 12 months and be a full time business. The grant of

£500 will make a positive contribution towards the cost of creating a new business or social enterprise.

Joy Okwuadigbo, head of regeneration services, at Havant Borough Council said: “This scheme has been brilliant and created a great opportunity for local entrepreneurs and new business owners to kick-start their businesses with an injection of cash.
“The money can be used for marketing materials to assist in building awareness of the new business; it’s up to you how you choose to spend it.
“There are only seven of these grants still available so if you think you qualify apply today!
