Serious crash on Selsmore

Selsmore road chalked up another crash last night, the third and most serious in recent months.





At around 9.15pm a Rover 214, containing 3 generations of a local family, collided with a red Vauxhall Belmont travelling in the opposite direction on Selsmore Road.





Firefighters spent 40 minutes freeing a 70 year old driver from the wreckage of his Rover. He suffered serious head and chest injuries and is now receiving intensive care and Queen Alexandra hospital. The daughter of the driver, her son and a further passenger all were also injured in the crash.





The 22 year old driver of the red Vauhall Belmont fled the scene on foot, leaving an injured passenger behind, but was soon aprehended by police.
