Home Library Service

- Mon 16th Jul 2012

Home Library Service in Hampshire is for individuals who can't get to the library or mobile stop due to frailty or mobility problems, and don't have anyone living locally to borrow books for them. The service is FREE and reservations for titles we have in stock is also free-of-charge. Our volunteers are CRB checked and they will usually call once a month on a pre-arranged day. If you know of someone who could benefit from this service or you’d be interested in helping once a month as a Home Library Service volunteer, then please talk to staff at Hayling Island Library or email using the feedback form at http://www3.hants.gov.uk/library/library-contacts.htm

Some of the feedback received from our Home Library Service Customers :

"I am always extremely pleased to see Jane and excited about what new books she has brought me to read. Sometimes she sits and chats with me and I enjoy her company. She told me jigsaw puzzles are available on loan at our local library and this has been fun…. I have one every month now." Mrs. S

"I would just like to say something about the Home Library Service I receive. I have a volunteer called Paul who picks up my library books and changes them once every two weeks. What an excellent service it is plus the books have been very good reading as well, so well done the library. " Mrs. L

"We are very delighted with the Home Library Service …. More than anything, it gives us an opportunity to speak to someone from outside and get information about things we were not aware of." Mr & Mrs T-E
