0845 045 45 45 - The only non-emergency police number

The non-emergency contact number for Hampshire Constabulary (0845 045 45 45), which has been in use for the past two years, will soon become the


only non-emergency number for the force.





Although individual police station numbers have continued to work, being automatically re-routed to the force’s centralised switchboard, they will


be discontinued from the beginning of December.





This is an important step in the development of the Force’s call handling strategy, providing access to every police station (including the Control Room and the Enquiry Centre) by dialling just one number, at the cost of a local call.





Project manager, Inspector Steve Evans, said: “This number should be used for non-emergencies and routine enquiries for all stations in Hampshire band the Isle of Wight. Use of the number is already helping to reduce the


load on the 999 system, which should be reserved for real emergencies.”
