Hayling Island well on the Sea Anglers' Map
- Mon 31st Mar 2003
Total Sea Fishing magazine's self-styled group of sea anglers(TSFSC) had yet another 'meet' on Hayling Island last Saturday 22nd March 2003. Top England International casters Roger Mortimore and Barney Wright were in attendance and gave casting demonstrations and individual tuition throughout the day. Target fish? Those red-spotted beauties ..... plaice. Some 25 or so TSFSC turned up and a good time was had by all .... including the now traditional full english breakfast at the Breakwater cafe' and a pint, after the fishing, in the Lifeboat Pub.
The group was set up eighteen months ago and has met regularly at venues such as Anglesey, Dungeness, Selsey and Pevensey Bay. Anyone can join in. There are no fees and no competitions just friendly advice, banter and the occasional barbeque thrown in.... not to mention the unexpected full moon at mid-day courtesy 'Luggsy'!
The most successful angler on Saturday was Lee Campbell ('Tacklerat', Seaford) who smuggled a 2 lb plaice into the Lifeboat Pub .... well after 'time' was called..... hmmmmm! Any meritorious catch is recognised with the presentation of a TSFSC certificate .... see Lee Campbell's 2lbs plaice caught at groyne 27, H.I.
