Christine Collister Comes to Hayling

Christine CollisterAs part of this year’s ‘Nine Days in May’ Arts Festival, residents and visitors to the borough are invited to what is described as ‘a spectrum of soul, blues, pop jazz, country and folk’ as Christine Collister gives a unique performance at The Station Theatre, Hayling Island on Saturday 24th May.




Anna Dewhurst, Havant Borough Council’s Arts Development Officer says, “Christine Collister has become a familiar name at all major festivals, including Glastonbury and we are delighted that she is a part of this year’s Nine Days in May Arts Festival here in Havant. Taking place on Saturday 24th May at 7.30pm it is one not to be missed! With a gravity defying voice and great personal charm, she is a phenomenal live act”. Christine grew up on the Isle of Man. Her professional recording career began in the mid 1980’s but she first came to national attention singing the 1987 theme for the BBC Television series ‘The Life and Loves of A She Devil. Following a fruitful association with The Richard Thompson Band, Christine also featured as a session singer on albums by Loudon Wainwright III and Bert Jansch.




She also toured and recorded with the female super group Daphne’s Flight. Christine’s solo endeavours now account for a far greater proportion of her career since going solo


in 1992. Her previous solo albums have seen her onvincingly interpret Smoky Robinson, Nick Drake, Robert Wyatt, Tom Waits and Lal Waterson, amongst others. Her own compositions have developed a distinctive quality and one that always makes a very personal statement.




Tickets for this performance cost £7 for adults and £5 for concessions.
