HIRA Executive Committee Minutes May 2003

Hayling Island Residents Associationbelow are the minutes of the HIRA Executive Committee Meeting help at Sunnyside Hall on May 13th.





Present: Paul Fisher (PF- Chairman), Dave Turvey, Colin Wise (CW- Planning), C Richards (CR – NEHRA), Paul Bleiker (PB- Vice-Chairman), Tony Higham (TH - Reporter), Mike Weedon (MW - Publicity), Fred Gibson (FG-Membership Sec)1. Apologies - Apology from Shirley Adams, Lois Neale and Jan Arkcoll.

3. Approval of April Executive Committee Minutes - Minutes approved


(Note to rectify date given for the next quarterly Focus meeting to 12.6.03)





4. Planning issues





a. 03/57914/007 - Hayling School site - To erect 21 houses, 5x3 bed, 9x4 bed, 6x5 bed and 1caretakers cottage. This is an approved site. Comment - top quality development. Layout, landscaping, access etc. Already approved in outline.





b. Havant Borough Housing Policy - has been submitted by the Conservative Councillors. We have asked how many houses have been built/need to be built to meet the number required by the Government and the road network plan.





c. Lloyds Bank site - not completed due to problems with road access.





d. Hayling Sailing Club - requires car park. Suggest council should buy/control carpark.





5. Topics for discussion


·Billy Trail - comments and ideas have been submitted by us.


·Havant Council Design Award Scheme - designs for the Golf Club, Sinah Warren, and Sailing Club were considered. Our vote went to the Sailing Club.


·Increasing membership - we have asked for a price for approx. 3,000 membership cards to go into the Hayling circulation of the Echo News and Advertiser publication.


·April open meeting - very good meeting held, however not enough people attended.


·Hayling Carnival - this year's theme is 'Our Friendly Island'
