Robbery on Hayling [updated]

Staff at Unwins in Mengham were victims of a thuggish raid early yesterday evening when a man, armed with a hammer, entered the shop and demanded money from the till...A man entered the shop at 7.30pm with his face covered with a scarf and wielding a hammer. Having threatened the lone female member of staff the man left with the contents of the till.

Most of the day's takings had already been removed from the till, but the incident left the member of staff shaken.

Police describe the man as being around 6' tall, in his 30s and wearing dark glasses and a dark jacket. Anyone with information should contact Havant CID on 0845 0454545.
