HIRA Report for February 9th 2004
- Wed 28th Apr 2004
This Month's Report from the Hayling Resident's Association covers the following topics amongst others.
The proposed Orange Telephone mast - Signposting on the Island - Roundabouts - English NaturePresent.: P Fisher (PF), L Neale (LN), A Higham (AH).
Councillors: A Lenaghan (AL). F Pearce (FP)
Apologies: F Gibson (FG), C Richards (CR).
Minutes of January meeting.
These were approved.
Matters Arising..
A Lenaghan was incorrectly reported as attending a meeting last month.
Ted Gale had injured himself and the committee wished him a fast recovery.
The Liveability fund of £3M pounds was mentioned with the hope that the money would be wisely spent. Fund seems to be aimed at parks, playgrounds etc.
The question was raised as to the power of English Nature within its new organisation.
Planning.
Bright’s Lane.
Committee was informed that this was to make use of space that was currently not used because of undesirable activities carried out there. Committee felt that the suggestion was good use of land for the purpose proposed.
Orange Mast.
Committee felt that this was completely out of keeping with the surrounding environment, spoiling an area that was currently largely devoid of significant man-made intrusion.
January Meeting.
This was successfully completed and our approach to the Billy Trail and bridge were almost totally supported.
Correspondence.
PF had received a letter from Paul Blieker commenting on the poor signposting on the island, particularly in relation to the various sailing clubs, golf facilities and other venues of interest to visitors who were unfamiliar with the Island. The committee supported his observations and would pass them on to the Council with our support.
OB
Roundabouts.
Comments were made about the charges proposed by the Council to enhance these. The committee felt these were quite unreasonable (particularly in the light of the Liveability opportunities) and exhorted the Council to think again. PF pointed out that the Gorron Twinning activities were to take place at Easter and the Beachlands Roundabout would be formally committed to the Twinning Cause.
