HIRA Report for Minutes of meeting held on April 13th 2004
- Wed 28th Apr 2004
This Month's Report from the Hayling Resident's Association covers the following topics:
Brights Lane - Langstone Bridge - HU Football Club move to The Hayling School - HIRA Planning Officer - NEHRA - West Town P.O. - Planning
Brights Lane
Committee again discussed the matter and re-iterated the view that because of the low usage of the garage area, placing houses in a location which affected few people seemed a reasonable idea.
Representative of the Brights Lane group failed to appear.
Langstone Bridge
Various meetings were taking place, D Willetts was seeing HCC, AL was meeting Andy McLean of the highways Dept. etc., but as the new report was imminent (now available I understand) we would have to proceed in the light of its contents.
HU Football Club move to The Hayling School
As this was now approved, a degree of emphasis needed to be placed on finding effective uses for the original building in Mengham Park. All ideas should be passed on to the relevant authorities.
April Open Meeting
This was arranged by PF and it was likely that Sandy Hopkins would give the talk on HBC’s website
HIRA Planning Officer
PF had asked Rod Elliot if he could help in finding a suitable person.
Ditto for secretary.
NEHRA
Northney residents had carried out a study of traffic calming in the area. After discussion it was agreed to opt for installation of ‘pinch-points’ at either end of the village. The Southern end of the Island should consider their needs and act accordingly. It was now up to the local authorities to implement the recommendation, if they see fit.
AOB
Fox culling was raised. Discussion indicated that there was no call for this at present, though to what extent it was already being carried out seemed unclear.
West Town P.O.
Concern is being felt about the imminent closure of the P.O.
As the current owners wish to occupy the shop space, it is clear that any plan to replace the service will require new premises. Can anyone think of a likely location/operator?
