Flood relief from Hayling for farmers The plight of Palmerston North ,New Zealand's farmers in February's floods has touched the hearts of people on the other side of the world.
Jacquelyn Goodfellow, from Hayling Island near Portsmouth in England, was visiting her son Michael in Palmerston North when the storm hit hard.
When she returned to England she organised a jumble sale and raised $548.28 for the relief fund.
Mr Goodfellow said his mother raised money for an orphanage in Romania each month and had just returned to England after visiting Romania to deliver Easter eggs.
His mother felt that because of the devastation in Manawatu she would raise money to help farmers affected by the flood.
