HAYLING BEACHES STILL IMPRESSING THE JUDGES
<%image(20040629-small_1059395949groynesatwestbeach.jpg|133|100|Hayling's Award Winning Beaches)%>Hayling Island's beaches have scooped Blue Flag recognition for the thirteenth year running, impressing judges with their clean water, disabled facilities, litter-free sands, a dog ban in the summer, shower and toilet facility, clearly-displayed information points and lifeguards.
West Beachlands West has gained a Blue Flag for the thirteenth year running with West Beachlands Central gaining its fifth flag, making Hayling Island the only resort in Hampshire with two Blue Flag beaches.
A record 122 beaches in Britain have been awarded the blue flag this year, including 20 new entries and six re-entries.
The Blue Flag for beaches is awarded annually and is only valid for one year. To be eligible for the Blue Flag a bathing beach has to fulfil all requirements. The Blue Flag should be removed whilst any criterion is no longer satisfied.
