The Hayling Island Community Centre has suffered attacks from vandals and yobs again. The community centre is fighting back against yobs – by installing its own CCTV system.
The Hayling Island Community Centre has suffered attacks on an almost weekly basis with windows repeatedly being smashed and walls daubed with graffiti.
Now staff and volunteers at the centre have pledged to help pay for four cameras to monitor the building in Station Road.
The association, which runs the centre, said it had no choice but to take action because further attacks threatened to send it into a financial crisis.
Chairman Wally Taylor said: 'It is terrible it has got to this stage but we have to do something proactive to catch those responsible and deter them from doing it in the first place.'
