Plea to extend life of drop-ride
The much discussed drop-ride could stay in Hayling Island in a bid to attract crowds of thrill-seekers.
Funfair bosses are keen to keep the 115ft ride at the Funland Amusement Park after attracting 5,000 people since it opened five weeks ago.
John and Marshall Hill, who run the park, want to continue its success by applying for a two-year extension.
Planning permission for the ride – with a sudden plunge to the ground at 40mph – was granted only until May next year after angry residents branded it a 'noisy eyesore.'
But Marshall Hill said: 'We've been quite pleased with the success of the ride.
'Since it has been up it hasn't caused any problems with noise, as we said all along.'
