Bike Ride organising committee is planning next year's 20th Ride
- Fri 20th Aug 2004
Having just returned from a triumphant Ride 2004, we are already planning next year’s celebratory 20th ride, which we want to make very special, with a number of innovations. The major committee debates have been about whether to make any route changes and to decide whether to keep to our Saturday return. We have decided to maintain the same route for next year, although we did discuss whether to incorporate Chichester’s twin city of Chartres in the route, but decided against this major departure, at least for next year, preferring to minimize work on routes and to concentrate on adding some special extras to commemorate this remarkable milestone. We have not definitely decided the date of return, although both options are open to us, since the Mercure in Le Havre can accommodate our last night dinner on either Friday or Saturday. This issue is slightly complicated by the choice of whether to be in Rouen or Paris on Bastille day, traffic being a major consideration. The news about P&O’s potential crossing changes, not to be announced until late September this year, is also a serious worry, possibly affecting routes and pricing.
However, reservation forms are going out, so that riders can book their place, with a £75 reservation fee. Entries are already flooding in, so book your place now! New entry forms available later in the year. Also, the new, rather smart road jerseys are now available, at £35 each.
