Year round cleaning for Hayling Beach

Hayling's award winning beaches are now to be cleaned throughout the year thanks to money released by Havant Borough Council...Despite continually holding presitigious Blue Flag awards since 1992, the Island's beaches only ever receive the attention of cleaners during the summer months. This had always led to a drop in standards off season.

The Beachlands management team will now receive an extra £6,000 p.a. in their budget to cover the costs of litter collection throughout the year. Whilst the winter service will not be as regular as that provided in the summer this will no doubt be welcomed by year round beach users such as dog walkers and watersports enthusiasts.

The new off-season patrol started 3 months ago and has already produced an improvment in the litter situation.
