HAYLING ISLAND CELEBRATES ANOTHER BLUE FLAG SUCCESS
- Thu 9th Jun 2005
Beachlands West has gained a Blue Flag for the 14th year running and Beachlands Central is celebrating its 6th Blue Flag and the two award-winning beaches are the only ones in Hampshire to be given Blue Flags this year. So, whether visitors want to swim, surf or just dip a toe in and paddle, because the Blue Flag is only given to beaches that meet strict quality standards it provides everyone with reassurance that the water at Hayling is clean and the facilities are first-class. This year the two beaches impressed the judges with their spotless shores, clean water, disabled facilities, showers and toilets, clearly-displayed information points, beach patrol officers and a summer-long dog ban, and they will now be flying the Blue Flags that make sure residents and visitors know the facilities are top-quality. The Blue Flag award is fantastic news for the residents of Hayling Island and for the many visitors who enjoy the beaches during the summer, as well as clear water and clean beaches, there are also stacks of attractions from the Beachlands funfair to the East Hayling Light Railway as well as plenty of well-kept facilities including public toilets, sports areas and playgrounds. However, the best way to appreciate all Hayling has to offer is to spend a day by the sea. The Blue Flag is awarded annually and beaches have to be judged every year to make sure they come up to scratch.
