EMMA CARTER BHF NURSE APPEAL REACHES ITS FIRST MILESTONE
- Thu 29th Sep 2005
The Emma Carter BHF Nurse Appeal had its launch day on Hayling Island a month ago and already it has reached its first milestone. The appeal which aims to raise £82,500 to fund two new British Heart foundation nurses has already made over £12,000. Supporters have been inundating Mary Bareham, Appeal Manager, with their generosity, Mary said; "The response to the Emma Carter BHF Nurse Appeal has been amazing. Since the launch we have had so much support and we are delighted to announce that we have reached and exceeded the appeals first milestone!"
Jayne Carter is the mother of Emma the young girl who is the focus for this appeal. Islanders were shocked to learn that local girl Emma died suddenly last March of Heart Failure. Things haven't got any easier for the family but they have something positive to work towards as Jayne explains:
"Everyday is difficult without Emma but I know that I have to be strong for the rest of the family. I am just so pleased that we are able to support the BHF Nurse Appeal in Emma's name. Everyone's support and generosity so far has been overwhelming and I'm so pleased we have raised so much already, but our target is to reach £82,500 so please, please, please keep supporting the appeal!"
There are lots of ways you can get involved in the appeal. You can make a direct donation, or host a fundraising event, if you have some free time you could volunteer at some of the events that are taking place to raise money for the appeal.
