Old Computers Needed - JOB DONE!

- Mon 31st Oct 2005

First and foremost, we collected from a very kind resident from Hayling on behalf of Carly, a PC, monitor, a whole set even including the printer and a floppy disk storage box.
All boxed beautifully in the original packaging for some and with much thought given to packing it, making sure it would be as sea-container friendly as possible.
What an absolute diamond geezer.

If I can pass on HUGE thanks from Carly, she's just so busy running round getting things sorted.
I am dropping the boxes off to her tomorrow, and shall give you an update on success
i.e.: filling the container.
If I could pass on a plea also, she is still getting calls but cannot accept any more donations, as it was a finite space to fill

Imagine living on the streets…No food…No love…No future.
You are 8 years old. Home is worse than this.

Affordable Computers and Technology for Tanzania (ACTT) is a new Mkombozi Centre for Street Children project.  We train street youth as hardware technicians, and we refurbish and sell used computers to schools across Tanzania so that computer literacy and technology spreads throughout the country.

P&O Nedlloyd have generously offered to ship one container of computers to Tanzania before the end of NOVEMBER 2005 at no cost to Mkombozi! Your help is needed to fill this container! If you or your company have any old monitors, CPUs, printers and other computer peripherals that you can donate, please contact our UK PR Manager, Carly Beresford, at carlyb@hotmail.com or call 07771 511890.

Thank you for your consideration and your support in our campaign to break down common prejudices about street children and to raise awareness amongst policy makers that street children are not a problem in themselves, but the manifestation of wider social exclusion.
