Reward for vandals name

A frustrated Hayling trader has offered a £300 reward for information leading to the arrest of youths who have vandalised his West Town shop.

The shop front of Brilliant Bathrooms, on Station Road, now sports a large offer of reward in place of it's vandalised windows as well as the exasperated question "What is happening to HAYLING".  The £300 reward has been offered to help identify the youth witnessed at the scene of the vandalism by two passers by.

The vandalism is sadly just the latest is a series of such incidents around the Island.  The incident happened just days after another local trader prevented an attempted break-in, only to have the perpetrators return to complete the job later.  When the trader, suspecting the perpetrators would return, asked for police assistance he was reportedly told that there would be no police on the island over night.

These incidents have led to traders and residents alike calling for better CCTV coverage to help compensate for the fact that the island is effectively unpoliced at regular times.
