Councillors: A Lenaghan (AL)

Minutes: The minutes for the February meeting were approved, as the March meeting had to be cancelled for unavoidable reasons.
Actions: Completed.
Matters Arising: None.
Planning A number of items were discussed but no specific local actions were considered necessary. A development behind 1, Ilex walk was felt to be an example of the general state of planning trying to cram more into already developed areas.
The Bosmere Field development at Havant was discussed and after the various issues had been clarified, it was unanimously agreed that we should support those people, local to the area, who were most affected. It was felt that an 'industrial gateway' to Hayling was highly undesirable and that if development was inevitable, some more community related options should be proposed.
AL described how the Council were very keen to be able to provide more affordable housing. It was commented upon that more attractive developments for the elderly might be better as they could afford to buy by downsizing and hence release housing that would be more appropriate to longer term family use.
Community Board The AGM of this was to be held on the 27th April. Some discussion took place on what the future aims of the board were to be, but it was felt we would have to wait and see how things developed.
On the timing of the start of the Eastoke Corner development, it was noted that a meeting of the local traders concerned had been held and that a start date of September had been agreed. This was rather than the earlier date of July, the latter dater being preferred by HIRA. We felt that the activity of the development would attract people who would be keen to return later to observe the outcome.
Various walks and similar happenings are envisaged to promote some of the Liveability items.
Living Landmarks, (Destination Hayling Island) The first meeting of interested parties was to be held at the Sailing Club on 26th April.
Gorron Roundabout The joint celebration of this item's inauguration is to be held on 17th April.
MTI A meeting on this was to be held at the West Town on 24th April
Landscape Character Assessment This programme was also under way, PF to contribute. The above items demonstrate the range of initiatives affecting Hayling and to which HIRA is contributing.
NEHRA The question of excessive light spill at the Langstone Hotel was discussed and HIRA supported the attempts of the NEHRA to reduce this.
