Claire Myers, Don Hooker, Barbra Gardner, Margo Allen and Chris Lewington were co-opted to the Committee which now gave the full complement.

Apologies:  None

Minutes:  The Minutes of the April Meeting were approved.

Matters Arising:

Langstone Residents Association had reported that there had been another hiccup over the Bosmere Field development and that they had received a very unsatisfactory letter. The traffic problem came under Hampshire CC and was not on the planning agenda. The next hearing was planned for 20th June.

There was a general discussion regarding the development of the Rusty Cutter roundabout area.  It was noted that the Prescott demise could affect various initiatives.

Planning

1. Amusement Arcade, Creek Road - object to flats.  Retail outlet, pharmacy and Medical Centre satellite preferable.

2. 17-21 Station Road.    No objection if decent design standards are met.

Suggestion that we adopt Design Standard Initiative for area.

3. Hot Food Take away. No parking facilities, double yellow lines.   Already 5 Indian

Restaurants within a half mile of each other.  None at Eastoke or West Town.

4. 12 Single Bed units-    Object strongly to single bed developments.

5. Higworth Caravan Park  -  wholehearted approval providing it does not overwhelm the area.

Community Board

The Chairman listed the Committee, including the new members .[A full list is available] There was a complete committee but very little youth representation. Meetings are held on the 2nd Monday in the month.

Tony reported that everything was being done except Eastoke corner.

Skate Park -   go ahead with 3 to 4 weeks work.

Children’s playground at Beachlands closed due to dangerous equipment.

Suggested that CCTV on webcam would be beneficial to monitor vandalism on the Island.  This system operates successfully in other areas.

Development of Eastoke Corner should be commenced ASAP - this could be a Tourist attraction in itself.

Living Landmarks

There had been on-site meetings to assess the bid. A meeting of the Stakeholder Group at the Sailing Club generated a lot of local interest and was well attended. Tony suggested that Workshops should be set up so that information was ready for the next round.

Policing:  We now had 10 officers instead of 6, with more flexibility on policing on the Island.   Inspector Murphy was doing a good job.

Councillor Questionnaire

We had been asked to fill in 4 questionnaires regarding the effectiveness of any one of  our local Councillors.   The Chairman took one with Nigel & Leslie covering SE Hayling and the other two by Chris Lewington and Don Hooker.

MTI Update

Tony Higham, as Chairman of the Group, reported on progress so far. Various initiatives were discussed in particular the need for Youth activities.

Bin Mountain

On a lighter note the Chairman raised the question as to what would happen to all the old dustbins.

Correspondence -    None

NEHRA

Colin reported that discussions with Langstone Hotel were continuing.  Trees had been planted but they do not shield lights.  Waiting for Hotel to diminish lighting or fit a time clock.

Attention was being paid to developments in the area. They were trying to have a meeting with the Planning people re Northney but were still waiting for a date.

Reporter

Tony introduced Chris Lewington, who reported on the problems with the right of way from Elm Close Estate to Hollow Lane.  It appeared that the adjacent houses in Hollow had been dumping garden refuse and it was now impossible to use.  He had written to the

Occupants and was awaiting the outcome.

There being no other business the meeting closed.
